Following approval by the IAAF Council, and acceptance by the International Olympic Committee and the Local Organising Committee, there has been a change to the athletics timetable for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The change involves a minor swap between the women’s 200m and 400m hurdles on 15 August. The first round of the women’s 200m, which was formerly in the evening, has now moved to the morning. The first round of the women’s 400m hurdles, which was formerly in the morning, has now moved to the evening.
This change to the timetable makes it more feasible for women to compete in both the 200m and 400m at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
