BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Alabama men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up the inaugural Conference Clash in impressive fashion, scoring points in a total of six events on the day. Four of those came in the field events, highlighted by junior long jumper Quanesha Burks' record-breaking leap.
Burks, already the owner of the school record in the outdoor long jump, now has the indoor long jump record as well. She claimed the title at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Saturday with a tremendous jump of 22-0 1/4 (6.71m) (=10, x C; =5, x AmC) to break Flora Hyacinth's record mark of 21-3 1/4 (6.48m) that was recorded on March 29, 1986. Burks is now also the co-owner of the Birmingham CrossPlex facility record in the event.
