A former walk-on at the University of Tennessee, Wright continued her rise to the elite ranks of 800m runners with her first-place finish at the USA Indoor Championship. Wright broke the 2-minute barrier for the first time in Eugene, Ore. at the 2010 Prefontaine Classic with a career-best time of 1:58.22, the seventh fastest time of the year. She ended her season with her second consecutive third-place finish at the USA Outdoor Championship (’09, ’10). At Tennessee, Wright capped off her senior season with wins at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor champs. Wright was also a five-time SEC champion—three times in the 800m and twice in the Distance Medley Relay.
