| A new and ongoing focus for the LA84 Foundation will be to preserve the Olympic Spirit and promote our collection of Olympic memorabilia by instituting an online LA84 Olympic Moment. As you may be aware, Jesse Owens is the subject of the new film, “Race,” which opens nationwide on February 19. Owens’ triumph at the 1936 Olympic Games, in the face of Hitler’s claims of Aryan supremacy, is being widely celebrated as part of Black History Month. The LA84 Olympic Moment, from now through the end of February, will celebrate Owens and African American track stars of the 1984 Games through posts and photos on Facebook and Twitter. We encourage you to follow us. You also can learn more about Olympic history and other sport history topics using LA84’s online sports library at: http://search.la84.org. You will find literally 1,000 hits matching the keyword search: Jesse Owens. Finally, a reminder that LA84’s third and final track and field coaches’ clinic of 2016 takes place February 21. The free clinic, to be held at Moorpark High School, is primarily for beginning coaches. If you are a beginner in any track and field event, there may be something here for you.
