Saina & Williams Post Top World 5k Marks
(Colorado Springs, CO) - Betsy Saina (Nike) and Alisha Williams (adidas/BRC) not only ran away from the field to go 1-2 in the University of Washington's Invitational 5,000-meters on Friday, but the duo also claimed the top two times in the world with their marks of 15:28.84 and 15:34.28, respectively.
Rochelle Kanuho (adidas/BRC) finished 5th with a personal best of 15:59.13 ranking her 12th in the world and 7th in the U.S., while teammate Brittni Hutton (adidas/BRC) finished 8th in 16:36.58. Kanuho, who along with Williams qualified for the US Indoor championships in the 3,000-meters with their marks, doubled back to finish 8th in the Mile Run with another personal best of 4:48.27.
Matt Elliott (Brooks) competed in the JDL Hilton Garden Camel City Invitational Mile and finished second at 4:01.50, narrowly missing the US indoor championships qualifying mark, while Anthony Mallory won the mile at the Colorado School of Mines Twilight Open.
