Running USA recently held an election for eight Board of Directors seats and its members selected the following running industry leaders for the newly constituted 17-member board that is listed below with affiliation and term. Elected for two-year terms (8):

26.2 Run with DONNA in Mobile App RaceJoy

26.2 with DONNA and TriPerta (creators of RaceJoy) announce the 7th Annual 26.2 with DONNA race weekend is now available in RaceJoy, offering a mobile experience for race participants and spectators. 26.2 with DONNA will be held the weekend of February 22, 2014, and is expected to draw 12,000 runners. RaceJoy, a mobile App found in Google Play and iTunes, will provide participants and spectators mobile conveniences and entertainment with key features such as instant results, timing notifications, live GPS tracking and Send-a-Cheer. RaceJoy is exhibiting at Running USA's conference in San Diego (booth 408).



Women's Half-Marathon Announced

A half marathon distance has been added to the Sports 4 Emilie's Run Women's Only 5K to be held on June 21, 2014, in Ottawa, Canada.While the 5K remains the focus of the activities of the day, the half marathon will attract a fresh audience of women and will undoubtedly add to the Wylie Ryan Aviation 1K kids' fun run.



OC Marathon Announces Sponsorship

Race organizers announced that U.S. Bank is the new title sponsor of the U.S. Bank OC Marathon to be held on May 4, 2014. Poised to set attendance records in the full and half marathons, along with the obesity fighting Kids Run the OC, the U.S. Bank OC Marathon will now celebrate its 10th edition positioned to further enhance the runner experience; from elite athletes to novices and everyone in between.



Registration Open for Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon
Registration for the 33rd annual Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and six additional running events hosted by Twin Cities In Motion opened on February 1. The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon will be held October 5, will be limited to 12,200 participants.


Roller Coaster Race To Kick Off at Six Flags

The Roller Coaster Race has partnered with Six Flags St. Louis, "The Coaster Capital of Missouri," to produce its first race of 2014, which will take place at the theme park in Eureka, Missouri on May 4.



ATRA Prize Draw Attracts Donations

The ATRA prize draw that will take place at the 2014 Trail Running Conference October 9-11, 2014, has already attracted some big ticket items. Among the list of items, one entry for TransRockies 2015 three-day run, an entry for one of the 2015 Sykrunner Series USA events, 10 pairs of Balega socks, 5 sets of Icespikes, and 2 annual subscriptions to Colorado Runner Magazine. Tickets are available online now - you don't have to attend the Conference to have an opportunity to win! Sponsors interested in donating items for prizes can contact Event Director Terry Chiplin.



Council For Responsible Sport Launches Instagram Photo Contest

The Council for Responsible Sport announced that it will conduct a photo contest throughout the month of February. Pictures should be submitted via Instagram, with the tag #responsiblesport and a descriptive caption, including event namd and/or @Twitter handle. Prizes include $100 credit toward the Council's 2014 certification application fee for photo of the week winners, and an additional $500 credit for the photo of the month. Pictures must be submitted by February 28, 2014. Weekly albums will be posted for voting on February 10, 17, 24 and March 3. Voting for photo of the month will take place March 10-14. Facebook voting will take place here, while the growing #responsiblesport photo gallery can be viewed here.

Collegiate Running Association Announces Championships
The Collegiate Running Association announced that the first Collegiate Running Association Mountain Running Championships will take place on July 6, 2014, at the Loon Mountain Race, hosted by Acidotic Racing, in Lincoln, New Hampshire. A total of $6,000 will be distributed to the top 5 college finishers in the Men's 12K and Women's 8K race.

People in the News


Anderson Race Management (ARM) welcomes the addition of Sara Edgren

to the ARM staff. Edgren joins the team as Project Manager after working with ARM as a contractor for the past two years. She will be responsible for providing race solutions and support to ARM clients and participants and will ensure accurate and complete timing results, awards and reports.



Matthew Centrowitz and Mary Cain will headline the NYRR Wanamaker Mile fields at the NYRR Millrose Games on February 15, and Nick Willis and Morgan Uceny will be among their top competitors in what has traditionally been the most anticipated event of the Millrose Games.



Competitor Group, Inc., (CGI) announced the following appointments: Josh Furlow has been named Executive Vice President of Global Events, overseeing CGI's North American and International event divisions. Furlow was previously Senior Vice President of Operations; Tim Dunne is now Senior Vice President of CGI and remains General Manager of Race IT based out of CGI's office in Richmond, VA; and Dianne St. John has been promoted as Vice President of Human Resources, continuing in her long-term role overseeing all human resource functions for CGI. She will become a member of the company's Senior Management team.
