Paul C. "Pete" Richardson
May 15, 1935-July 29, 2012
Pete passed away at his home in Santa Rosa on Sunday July 29th surrounded by family. Pete was known to have a gentle heart and an easy manner. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was a devoted, family man. Pete was born on May 15th, 1935 in Emeryville.
Pete was also lovingly known as “Peter Rabbit” to his family. He was an avid runner setting college and world records, some that still stand. He began running at Clovis High in 1951 and continued competing for over 40 years as a member of the West Valley Track Club. He also ran for the Air Force and competed in track meets in the Philippines and Japan as well as the US. Pete was a decorated veteran that served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a teacher for the California Youth Authority for 35 years. Pete was a beer connoisseur and enjoyed making his own beer and sampling. Pete and his wife Gloria are members of the Circles and Squares Dance Club. He enjoyed traveling extensively and visited many countries with the Santa Claus Goodwill Tours.
He is survived by his wife Gloria, his children Renee Donat, Denise (Glen) Baxter, Liz (Arthur) Stout, Kimberly Trenchick, as well as Gloria’s children Roxanne (Chris) , Rochelle (John), Bill (Kelly ), 16 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He also is survived by seven of 13 brothers and sisters. Pete is preceded in death by his first wife Nicole Richardson of Manteca.
A celebration of Pete’s life was held on August 13th at the Odd Fellows Hall at 545 Pacific Ave. in Santa Rosa at 2:00 pm. Donations may be made to the West Valley Track Club, Attention: Mark Lund, 2680 Bayshore Pkwy, Suite 414, Mountain View, CA 94043-1021.
