A plaque summarising the lifetime accomplishments of Olympic legend, the late Herb McKenley, was yesterday unveiled by Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson, and back-to-back double Olympic sprint champion, Usain Bolt, at the National Heroes Park.

The old record of 47.6 was set by John Quigley (De La Salle, New York, N.Y.) at the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, New Jersey on June 17, 1939. Matson was third in both the 100 and 220 at the 1948 California State Meet. The winning time in the State Meet 440 was only 49.2. Matson ran the wrong events. He could have been the state champion in the 440.]
