High School / Youth Steeple opportunities
Oregon Relays results included high school boys and girls 2000m
steeple in 2008 but only boys this year. High school steepling was
held as early as 1994 in California but, despite inclusion in USA
high school rules book since 1999, seems to have declined on the
USA Pacific Coast. However, it is growing elsewhere – from New
Mexico to New York and on a national level via summer meets of
AAU, USATF, and Nike Outdoor Nationals. Young girl steeplers
also have good racing opportunities in Australia, Canada, Great
Britain, New Zealand, much of Europe, and other nations.
