Kruger named 2009 USA Indoor weight throw champion

Two-time Olympian and 2008 Olympic Trials hammer throw champion A.G. Kruger has been named the 2009 USA Indoor weight throw champion. It is his fifth national indoor crown, along with his titles from 2003 and '05-'07.

The runner-up at the 2009 USA Indoor Championships in Boston with a best throw of 23.31 meters/76 feet 5.75 inches, Kruger became the national champion following the April 16, 2009 announcement by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) that original winnerJake Freeman tested positive at the meet on March 1 for the prohibited substance tetrahydrocannabinol acid (THC metabolite), a metabolite of marijuana and/or hashish. On March 25, in addition to forfeiting his win at the Indoor Championships, Mr. Freeman accepted a three (3) month provisional suspension from USADA, which has been reduced to time served because he completed an anti-doping education course.
