Hostetler named Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Cyrus Hostetler has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after setting a Pac-10 record in the men's javelin Saturday at the Pepsi Invitational at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

A redshirt junior at the University of Oregon, Hostetler won the men's javelin with a world-leading and huge personal best heave of 83.16 meters/272 feet 10 inches. His throw set a Pac-10, school and meet record, and also is the fourth-best mark in NCAA history.

Now in its eighth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
