Samuel L. Gompers Continuation High School believes that all students can learn and achieve at a high level. Our program is standards-based and uses multiple measures of assessment. We use intervention, prevention and alternative opportunities to promote success, improve confidence, and enhance resiliency. When students leave Samuel L. Gompers they will have skills, goals, and belief in their ability to succeed. Enrollment is both voluntary and involuntary.
The majority of students were unsuccessful at their comprehensive high school, necessary small school, or other alternative program. Many of the students are juvenile offenders recently released from juvenile detention facilities. A number of students are pre-expulsion placements, while others are involuntarily placed at Gompers for disciplinary reasons. Some students attend Gompers by choice.
