Pac-12 announces outdoor track & field athletes of the week

The Pac-12 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of April 3-9:
Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Arturo Sotomayor, UCLA
Sophomore
Roseville, Calif.
Sotomayor ran the fifth fastest 1,500-meters in the country to win the event at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational. The Roseville, Calif., native used a nearly nine second personal best to clock a 3:42.60. With that time, the UCLA 1,500m squad ranks first in the country as an event group according to the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I National Squad Rankings.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Kendall Ellis, USC
Junior
Pembroke Pines, Fla.
Ellis won the 400-meter dash at the Battle on the Bayou featuring LSU, Penn State and Purdue with a meet-record time of 50.98. Her time is the collegiate leader and moves her from sixth to second on USC's all-time list in the event. It is an impressive early-season time as it would have taken third at the 2016 NCAA Championships.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Eric Sloan, USC
Senior
Stockton, Calif.
Sloan won the men's long jump at the Battle on the Bayou with a legal jump of 25-4.50/7.73m (+1.2). He won the event by nearly a foot and now has the top two long jumps in the conference, having posted a 25-7.50/7.81m mark last week, which ranks fifth in the country.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Lisanne Hagens, Arizona
Senior
Zoetermeer, Netherlands
Hagens matched her personal-best and won the high jump at the Jim Click Shootout with a mark of 6-0.75/1.85m, which is tied for the best in the Pac-12 and third in the nation so far this season.
