2016: Competed twice outdoors and twice indoors ending the season with his best times … at the Ken Shannon Invitational, ran a 400m best of 49.44 seconds and a 200m best of 22.59 into a headwind … ran at the UW-WSU Dual Meet, taking seventh in the 200m in 22.69 … indoors, ran 23.07 seconds for 200-meters at the UW Invitational.
2015: Competed three times during the season, highlighted by the UW-WSU Dual meet, where he ran in the 400-meters, taking fifth overall in 50.49 seconds, as well as running on the third-place 4x400m relay … redshirted the indoor season.
2014: Ran a full indoor season at 200- and 400-meters and then redshirted the outdoor season, competing twice unattached … indoors, ran a top 400-meters time of 50.28 seconds at the SPU Final Qualifier, and had a best 200m time of 22.96 seconds at the UW Indoor Preview … outdoors, was fifth in the 400m at the Ken Shannon Invite in 50.13 seconds, and had a wind-aided 22.30 time for 200-meters at the Washington Open.
High School and Personal: Born in Boulder, Colorado … parents are Shawll and Scott Kozell … has one older brother, Thomas, and one younger brother, Aidan … father ran track at Stanford and brother, Thomas, runs track on the University of Oregon club team … the quarter-mile specialist reached the CIF state meet as a senior, finishing 14th overall in the 400-meters with a time of 48.67 seconds … ran a 400m best of 48.10 at the 2013 NCS Redwood Empire Area Meet … sixth in the 400-meters at the NCS Meet of Champions, running 48.56 … won three Sonoma County League titles as a freshman and sophomore, two at 400m and one at 200m … twice named First Team All-Empire Area and twice Second Team … graduated with a 3.7 grade point average.
