Senior Nate Esparza (Amador Valley High School, Pleasanton) put the shot 69-3, to break the North Coast Section record of 66-8 1/4, which he set at the West Coast Relays on April 2, 2016.
His series: 68-4 1/2, 69-3, No Mark 9:28 a.m., No Mark 9:32 a.m.
Senior Oliver Grajeda (Granada, Livermore) placed second at 54-3 1/2. Junior Sam Guasch (Granada) was third at 43-11 1/2.
Esparza also won the discus at 170-3 1/2.
He is coached by his brother Scott Esparza, who threw for Cal.
