STANFORD, Calif. -- Reigning Pac-12 discus champion Valarie Allman was named Pac-12 Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her double victories in Stanford's victory over Cal in the Big Meet on Saturday.
Allman won the hammer and discus at the 122nd Big Meet, helping Stanford to a 114-48 victory in the dual in Berkeley.
Allman set a lifetime best of more than four feet to win the hammer, moving up to No. 6 on Stanford’s all-time performers’ list with a toss of 189-1 (57.63m). Her winning throw of 184-2 (56.13m) in the discus would have placed her No. 10 among collegians this year, except that she had a longer throw earlier this season.
This was Allman’s second Big Meet discus victory in as many years.and her second Pac-12 honor in four weeks.
