The time of year has come once again for public high schools nationwide to see how they stack up against their peers. U.S. News & World Report's 'Best High Schools' ranking is out.
Ten high schools in California rank in the top 100 nationwide. An impressive 84 schools fall within the top 500.
Coming out on top of the list in the Golden State is once again Gretchen Whitney High School, located in the Los Angeles subburb of Cerritos.
"The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia," states U.S. News & World Report. "Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college."

The No. 1 high school in the U.S. rankings is the School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas, Texas.
