Bears Set To Host 122nd Big Meet

Cal & Stanford To Compete In Annual Showcase
By Cal Athletics on Wed, April 06, 2016
BERKELEY --- On Saturday, April 9, California & Stanford will renew their rivalry at Edwards Stadium in the 122nd edition of the Big Meet.
The Bears will be working on their fourth consecutive victory over the Cardinal in the men's competition - which dates back to 1893 - while the California women will look to earn their second victory in three seasons and 13th overall since the series began in 1980.
"The Big Meet, one of the oldest track meets in the country, has a history & legacy that both universities take pride in," Director of Track Tony Sandoval said when asked about the significance of the competition.
"Many an Olympian or national champion began his or her emergence by competing head to head in this dual meet. Every event, every point and every athlete matters in this total team effort.  The fans and alumni come from all over to enjoy this version of the Cal-Stanford rivalry!"
