May 21, 2012

NEW ORLEANS -- McMurry's men and Wartburg's women will enter this weekend's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships as the No. 1 teams in the country according to the latest USTFCCCA National Team Computer Rankings. The championships, starting this upcoming Thursday, will be hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont, Calif. NCAA.com will provide live coverage.

McMurry's men, the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Champions, has 22 entries into the national meet, but No. 2 UW-La Crosse leads all teams with 31 national-championship entries are the lead favorite to spoil McMurry's run.

On the women's side, Wartburg again set an all-time rankings record, tallying 413.51 ranking points in this week's update. Wartburg last won the outdoor NCAA title in 2009, and, this spring, the Knights won the national indoor crown.
