PRINCETON, N.J. (12/12/09) - The Princeton men and women's track and field teams won 16 events at the New Years Invitational on Friday, Dec. 11 to open up the 2009-10 indoor season.
The women's team won the 60-meter dash, 300, mile, 1000, weight throw, long jump and pole vault.
Freshman Abidemi Adenikinju captured first-place honors in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.74. Classmate Erin Guty crossed the line second at 7.76, followed by sophomore Eileen Moran at 7.78 for third place. Moran went on to win the 300 in a time of 40.62 just .01 seconds faster than Nicole McMullen of St. Joseph's. Sophomore Danielle Glaeser placed third in the 300 at 41.38
Junior Brooke Russell (Hart High School, Santa Clarita) won the mile with a time of 5:09.58
Freshman Greta Feldman and senior Amanda Hudson placed first and second, respectively in the 1,000-meter run. Feldman finished in 3:00.06 with Hudson following at 3:04.18.
In the jump, junior Tiffany Liu recorded a win in the long jump and was third in the triple jump. She reached 5.57 meters (18-0.325) in the long jump and 11.11 meters (36-05.50) in the triple jump. Senior Aundeah Kearney placed third in the long jump reaching 5.41 meters (17-09.00).
Juniors Emma Ruggiero and Thanithia Billings went 1-2 in the weight throw, with Ruggiero earning the victory with a throw of 17.21 meters (56-05.75) and Billings taking second with a throw of 16.26 meters (53-04.25).
On the pole vault, freshman Tory Worthen gave the Tigers a win in her first time out, clearing 3.81 meters (12-06.00). Classmate Lauren Tauscher was second reaching 3.35 meters (10-11.75) and sophomore Lydia Arias was third at 3.35 meters (10-11.75).
The men's team won the mile, 300, 600, 1000, 4x400 relay, shot put, high jump, long jump and pole vault.

Also on the field, sophomore David Slovenski won the pole vault clearing 4.60 meters (15-01.00). Senior Chad Faulkner was third, clearing 4.50 meters (14-09.00).
Senior high jump duo Ian Fox and Justin Frick went 1-2 in the high jump. Fox reached 2.10 meters (6-10.75) and Frick was 2.05 meters (6-08.75).
Sophomore Isaac Serwanga recorded victories in both the long jump and the triple jump. In the long jump, he posted a leap of 7.12 meters (23-04.50), while junior Dion Lehman taking third with a mark of 7.11 meters (23-04.00). Serwanga recorded a jump of 14.68 meters (48-02.00) in the triple jump to take the top prize with junior Garner McCloud taking second place with a leap of 14.26 meters (46-09.50).
Junior Reagan Lynch won the mile with a time of 4:18.64. Senior Jeff Carbonella was second at 4:24.22 and junior Tony Salvatore third at 4:28.62 to sweep the mile.
Sophomore Austin Hollimon finished first in the men's 300 at 33.88 and senior Mike Eddy ran a 1:21.40 in the 600 to win the event over 32 other competitors.
Freshman Michael Palmisano and senior Ben White went 1-2 in the 1,000-meter run, covering the track in 2:33.93 and 2:37.59, respectively.
The Tigers also picked up a victory in the 4x400, clocking in at 3:18.96.
The Princeton men's team will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 9 when it travels to the Navy Invitational. The women will compete at the Metro Coaches Invitational at The Armory in New York City on Friday, Jan. 8.
