COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Senior Chris Gowell won the 800 meters and met NCAA provisional standards, while junior Robbie Knorr ran away with a victory in the 5,000 meters at the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational in College Station, Texas.
Gowell, a 2009 All-American, picked up right where he left off, sprinting to a nearly two-second victory in the half-mile with a time of one minute, 48.87 seconds. Gowell's time was well under the NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 1:50.50.
In the 5000 meters, Knorr led a strong group of Bears that finished in three of the top five spots, including a 1-2 finish. For the women, Skylar White had the performance of the day, crushing the previous Baylor shot put record by more than two feet. White unleashed a toss of 46 feet, 11 inches to break Rachel Rossler's eight-year old record of 44-8. White finished fourth at the meet with her school-record throw.
"Skylar White had a great personal best breaking the school record," Harbour said. Overall, we had a lot of good performances."
