NEW ORLEANS – The Arkansas Razorbacks had another successful weekend as the team traveled to Seattle for the University of Washington Invitational. Several Razorbacks picked up automatic or provisional times including Dorian Ulrey, the back-to-back SEC Track Athlete of the Week, as Arkansas remained the top ranked team in Division I Indoor Track and Field announced Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Ulrey and teammate Shawn Forrest combined to go one-two in the men’s 3,000 meter race in Washington. Ulrey’s time of seven minutes, 50.86 seconds was good enough for the national lead with just over a month left in the indoor season. Arkansas’ other NCAA qualifier was Alex McClary in the 800 meters. McClary and Ulrey both run on this season’s top ranked DMR squad.

Arizona State remained unchanged again this week and comes in at No. 2 in the rankings followed by Oregon at No. 3. The Ducks received a big boost from Ashton Eaton who recorded an impressive 6,174 points in the heptathlon at the Washington Invitational. The mark ranks as second best all-time in NCAA history.

Florida is ranked fourth followed by Texas A&M at No. 5. Florida State is ranked sixth followed by Texas, Texas Tech, BYU, and LSU. Texas moved up two spots in the rankings this week.

Stanford (No. 13) moved up 12 spots in the rankings this week. Stanford’s freshman distance standout, Chris Derrick, has the top time in the men’s 5,000 meters.
The 2009 USTFCCCA Division I Rankings will be released on Wednesdays during the indoor track and field season.

Rankings are compiled by Tom Lewis.

The 2009 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held March 13-14 in College Station, Texas.
