CINCINNATI - Despite the University of Cincinnati track and field program sending just a small contingent to the Armory Invitational in New York City on Friday, that group put up large results as the Bearcats compiled 11 personal-best marks, including eight that rank among the Top 10 all-time in program history. Leading the charge were sprinters Haisha Bisiolu and Aliya Barnes, both of whom rose to No. 4 on the all-time lists in their respective events.

- Haisha Bisiolu turned in a very strong showing in the short sprint as she lowered her personal best time twice to move up to No. 3 all-time in UC history. Entering the day with a best of 7.67 (#7), Bisiolu clocked 7.63 in the heats (#6) before running 7.59 to finish 14th in the event.
- Staying in the same distance, but adding hurdles, Aliya Barnes followed a similar trajectory from Bisiolu’s as she moved all the way up to a tie for No. 4 in Bearcats history in the 60m hurdles. Entering the weekend, Barnes’ best was 8.81, which ranked her 10th all-time at UC. In the heats, Barnes ran 8.67 to take over the No. 8 position before turning in a time of 8.50 in the semifinals to finish 15th in the meet and move into a tie for No. 4 on UC’s lists.
- Two field events produced personal-best marks as Leah Heckaman (shot put) and Rebecka Abrahamsson (long jump) etched their names in the program’s Top 10. In the shot put, Heckaman finished sixth overall with a best of 15.01m (49-03.00), the fourth-best mark in program history and only the fourth Bearcats woman to break the 15-meter barrier in the event. Teammate Annette Echikunwoke finished third in the event with a best of 15.41m (50-06.75), just under her PR.
- In the long jump, Abrahamsson took fifth in the event as she jumped out to 5.86m (19-02.75). That distance, which ranks third-best in UC history, equals her PR from two weeks ago at the Gladstein Invitational. Kellsa Mbah was 17th in the event today at 5.54m (18-02.25).
- Erika Hurd (fifth) and Loretta Blaut (sixth) both competed in the invitational portion of the high jump with both clearing 1.78m 5-10.00). Hurd finished higher via the tie-breaker (fewer misses).

at Meyo Invitational
- In the lone event of the day for the Bearcats at Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational, the team of Tes Corea, Deanna Gesicki, Sammy Hentz and Hannah Christ combined to run 12:12.57 in the distance medley relay, placing 18th overall in the meet. That time falls a little under one second shy of equalling the 10th-best time in program history (12:11.42)

// MEN’S RESULTS
at Armory Track Invitational
- Alex Bloom continues to put together a solid indoor campaign, this week winning the high jump with a clearance of 2.10m (6-10.75). Not only is that mark a personal-best, it also ties for the seventh-best clearance in program history. Also in the event, Jordan Hardiman (second) and Mike Wood (fifth) both cleared personal-best heights as Hardiman finished at 2.04m (6-08.25) and Wood at 2.01m (6-07.00).
- Nathan Alexander also has found success in the early going of the indoor season as the senior clocked a PR in the 400m dash, running 48.70 to take 12th overall. That time sits just outside the program’s all-time Top 10. Following that race, Alexander returned to the runway as he competed in the invitational pole vault, taking fifth place with a season-best 4.85m (15-11.00). Adrian Valles also competed in the invitational second, taking second place at 5.10m (16-08.75).
- On the track, Kelvin Williams lowered his PR in the 60m hurdles as he clocked in at 8.24 to better his previous career best of 8.31. In the heats, Williams was 22nd overall in 8.33 before placing 19th in the semifinals with the program’s eighth-fastest time in the indoor hurdle event.
