Green Valley, Fairfield, CA
A child of the Great Depression, Vern was born the youngest of eleven in Seminole, OK.At the beginning of WWII Vern came with his family to Richmond where he graduated from Richmond Union High School in 1949. Soon thereafter Vern began his 66-year career with the Steamfitters Local 342 where he flourished as a top hand and a highly sought out Senior General Foreman on numerous projects in the area's petrochemical complexes.Vern served Local 342 as a delegate to numerous state and national conventions, as a member of their Executive Board, Treasurer and for 21 years on their Board of Trust. For more than 50 years he was married to the love of his life, Eldrith. Predeceased by his brothers Bennie, Gene and Warren Dean, the Gosney boys are back together. Joining them are his lifelong friends Jobie Collins and Orville 'Red' Griffin.Family was everything to Vern. His children Vernon, Don, Bev and Debbie, his grandchildren Rocky and Dena, his five great grandchildren and his sister-in-law and friend Claire Ward have all been blessed having been a part of Vern's life.Vern's very close friend Jerry Neil Paul partnered with Vern for the past 25 years as they sought redress for coworkers who had been exposed to asbestos.The world is a better place for having Vern a part of it and those that knew him share a common loss.Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 1 PM on Friday Jan 8.Rockville Cemetery4219 Suisun Valley RoadFairfield ~ (707) 864-2421 - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/contracostatimes/obituary.aspx?n=vern-gosney&pid=177090173#sthash.c2HDlyfs.dpuf

Don's mother Eldrith Gosney is an ultra runner.
