Keith Conning: I taught in the Business and History Departments at Berkeley High School from 1973 to 1998. I taught in the Social Studies Department at King Junior High in Berkeley from 1968 to 1973. Even the junior high students were using marijuana in the 60's. Those were wild days, what with the Vietnam War and People's Park. One day a student brought a tear gas canister back from the Cal campus and set it off in the hallway outside my classroom. That was the end of school that day as CS gas filled the corridors.
