DID YOU KNOW?

It might not be spring for us, but how about a little baseball tidbit since Northern California has been swept away by Giants fever! San Francisco just clinched a World Series berth over the Philadelphia Phillies. But did you know that Phillies shortstop, Jimmy Rollins, went to an NCS school? That's right! Rollins graduated from Encinal in Alameda!

Don't forget! In this Fall's Prep:

CATCHING UP WITH...Meagan Schmitt
Meagan Schmitt led Redwood High School to four consecutive MCAL volleyball titles and a North Coast Section Division II championship in 2006. She is now a member of the nationally-ranked University of California volleyball squad. The senior defensive specialist out of Kentfield opens up to the North Coast Section about high school championships and life as a Golden Bear.

Q: You won an NCS volleyball title while playing at Redwood. What was your fondest memory of that championship?

A: Winning the NCS volleyball title was by far my favorite memory of playing Redwood Volleyball. We had a large senior class of six players, and the opportunity to finish off our high school careers on such a high note was priceless. Winning the NCS title was our goal from the beginning and to finally accomplish it in our final year left a great, lasting memory of high school volleyball in my mind.
