2012 Indoors: Ran only once for the Cowboys, placing eighth in the invitational one mile race with a time of 4:05.16.

2011 Cross Country: Earned All-America status for the second-straight season after an 11th-place performance at the NCAA Championships, as he completed the 10,000 meters in 29:32.9 ... Took home his second-career Big 12 individual championship in cross country after completing the 8K race in 23:25.4, which also set a school record for fastest 8,000 meter time ... Named all-region after a fifth-place finish at the Midwest Regional ... Came in third at the 10,000-meter Chile Pepper Festival, running a season-best 10K time of 29:21.3 ... Finished the Cowboy Jamboree in 24:01.56 to place fifth.

2011 Outdoors: Focused on the middle-distance events during the outdoor season, with his most impressive time a 3:44.18 in the 1,500 meters at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational ... That time ranks 36th on the national list ... Ran a 3:44.68 at the John McDonnell Invitational ... Suited up for the mile at the Texas Relays, recording a 4:17.71 ... Ran the 800 meters for the first time in his collegiate career at the Tulsa Duals, posting a 1:52.56 ... Competed in the 5,000 meters during the Big 12 Outdoor Championships but did not finish.

2011 Indoors: Big 12 champion in the mile, running the race in 4:06.22 to claim the crown ... Most impressive mark of the season was an NCAA automatic-qualifying time of 7:53.82 in the 3,000 meters at the Husky Classic ... That time placed 14th on the 2011 NCAA indoor list ... Best mile time of the season was a 4:03.13 at the Arkansas Last Chance Meet ... Ran a 4:06.55 in the Big 12 prelims and a 4:14.69 at the Razorback Invitational ... Big 12 runner-up in the 3K, clocking an 8:05.15 to finish behind teammate Tom Farrell in the race.

2010 Cross Country: One of the leaders of Oklahoma State's national champion squad ... Secured All-America recognition with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in 29:49.3 ... Took second at the Big 12 Championships by running the 8,000-meter course in 23:58.20 ... His 29:15.28 at the 10,000-meter Chile Pepper Festival was good for a third-place finish at the event and set the sixth-fastest cross country 10K time in Oklahoma State history ... Third-place finisher at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in 29:46.44 ... Took sixth at the Cowboy Jamboree in 24:28.74.

2010 Outdoors: Did not compete.

2010 Indoors: Ran only once during the regular season, clocking an NCAA-automatic qualifying time of 7:51.02 in the 3,000 meters at the Husky Classic ... Clocked a 4:06.44 in the mile prelims at the Big 12 Championships.

2009 Cross Country: Member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic team ... Dealt with a variety of injuries that hampered his efforts during the cross country season, but still turned in a fourth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships to help lift the Cowboys to their second consecutive Big 12 team title ... Placed 11th at the Chile Pepper Festival in 30:09 and was 12th at the NCAA Regional Championships in 31:03 to help OSU to its fifth straight regional crown ... Ran injured at the NCAA Championships but still finished 77th to help provide quality depth for a Cowboy squad that won its second NCAA team championship in school history.

2009 Outdoors: NCAA champion in the 1,500 meters as a true freshman with a personal-best time of 3:39.00 ... Led the race from beginning to end and extended his lead on the field with an explosion during the final 200 meters of the race ... Oklahoma State's first individual NCAA champion since Paul Larkins won the outdoor mile title in 1986 ... His 3:39.00 in the NCAA title race was the second-fastest time in school history and the fastest since 1986 ... Set an American junior record when he ran the 5,000 meters in 13:25.46 at the USA Track and Field Championships, placing fifth in the men's senior race at the meet ... Big 12 Outdoor Performer of the Year ... Big 12 Outdoor Freshman of the Year ...USTFCCCA Midwest Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year ... Big 12 champion in the 1,500 meters and in the 5,000 meters ... NCAA Midwest Region champion in the 1,500 meters ... Set a new school record in the 5,000 meters with a 13:31.78 at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., then broke it with his 13:25.46 at the USA Track and Field Championships ... His 3:42.80 in the 1,500 meters at the Big 12 Championships in Lubbock set a new Fuller Track record and was more than eight seconds faster than the second-place finisher ... In winning both the 1,500 meters and the 5,000 meters at Big 12s, Fernandez became the first Cowboy since James Butler in 1980 to win two individual conference outdoor titles the same year ... Oklahoma State's nominee for Big 12 Male Athlete of the Year honors ... That award considers all male athletes in all sports at each of the 12 league schools ... Tabbed as OSU's top athlete in any sport by Go Pokes Magazine.

2009 Indoors: Big 12 Indoor Performer of the Year ... Big 12 Indoor Freshman of the Year ... USTFCCCA Midwest Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year ... Big 12 champion in the mile and the 3,000 meters ... Honored as the Big 12 Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 19-25 ... Set a new NCAA record in the mile with a 3:55.02 at the Big 12 Championships ... The previous record was a hand-timed 3:55.00, but when the standard conversion of +0.24 seconds is added on to that mark, Fernandez's time stands alone as the fastest ever run by a collegian and was so dominant at the Big 12 meet that he beat the second-place finisher by more than 10 seconds ... Already proven as the nation's top miler, Fernandez was nearly as dominant in the 3,000 meters, where he ran a blistering 7:47.97 at the Husky Invitational in Seattle on Feb. 14 for the second-fastest time in the nation ... Only Oregon's Galen Rupp, a 2008 U.S. Olympian, ran a faster time in the event during the season ... Fernandez's 7:47.97 is the fastest time ever run by a junior, but is not recognized as a junior world record due to the size of the track ... Fernandez would have been the prohibitive favorite to win the NCAA title in the mile and would likely have been at or near the top of the heap in the 3,000 meters as well had he competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships, but he elected instead to train for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Amman, Jordan, which took place just 14 days after the NCAA Championships ... Clocked a 3:56.50 in the mile competing at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville in what was his first-ever indoor meet, earning Big 12 Athlete of the Week honors for his effort.

2008 Cross Country: Big 12 individual champion clocked a 23:47.38 at the conference meet to win the race by more than five seconds ... Oklahoma State's first-ever Big 12 individual champion and only the fifth conference cross country individual champion in school history, joining Miles Eisenman - 1959, Chris McCubbins - 1966 and John Halberstadt - 1972 and 1973 ... Placed 11th at the World Junior Cross Country Championships in Amman, Jordan, where he was the first American and the first non-African to cross the finish line at the event ... Won his second consecutive USA Track and Field junior cross country championship by clocking a 23:20 that was 19 seconds better than the second-place finisher ... Earned all-NCAA Midwest region honors with a 31:20.60 that was good for a fifth place finish at the event ... Champion at the NCAA Pre-Nationals open race with a 23:34.7 ... Took third at the Cowboy Jamboree with a 24:12 ... Was in position for a top-three finish at the NCAA Championships with only about 1,500 meters remaining before he crumpled to the ground with an injury to his lower leg that forced him to not finish the race.

High School: 2008 Gatorade National Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year at Riverbank HS in Riverbank, Calif., where he was coached by Bruce Edwards ... 2007-08 Gatorade Boys Cross Country California Runner of the Year ... 2008 Nike Outdoor National Champion in the two-mile with a time of 8:34.40 that easily broke a 29-year-old national record of 8:36.30, set by Jeff Nelson ... Fernandez's 3K split of 7:59.83 also broke the national record (8:03.67) set by Galen Rupp in 2004 ... Placed first in the 8,000 meter race at the USA Cross Country Championships World Championship Team Qualifier with a time of 24:18 ... Finished 25th at the 36th IAAF World Cross Country Championships with a time of 24:15, leading Team USA to a sixth-place team finish in Edinburgh, Scotland ... At the California Interscholastic Federation State Track & Field Championships, Fernandez's performance in the 1,600 meters (4:00.29) broke the California Interscholastic Federation state meet record (4:02.62), set in 2001 by 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Men's Marathon champion Ryan Hall ... Fernandez's time was only 0.78 seconds away from the National Federation of High School Athletic Associations record (3:59.51), set in 2001 by the current American record holder in the mile and 2000-01 Gatorade National Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year, Alan Webb ... After a mere two hours of rest following the 1,600-meter race, Fernandez clocked an 8:34.23 finish in the 3,200 meters, shattering the National Federation of High School Athletic Association's record (8:41.10), set in 2000 by Dathan Ritzenhein, the runner-up in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Men's Marathon ... This performance also broke a hand-timed CIF state meet record (8:44.9) set by the late Eric Hulst in 1975 ... Finished the 2008 outdoor season ranked No. 1 in both the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters among prep competitors nationwide ... Champion at the 2008 USATF Cross Country Junior Nationals in 24:18... Personal: Donated his time as a youth basketball coach in addition to serving as a race course monitor at the annual Riverbank Wine & Cheese Run, a charity race associated with the Shadow Chase Running Club ...
