UCLA Track & Field Spreads Holiday Joy To Those Less Fortunate, Bruins visited Cesar Chavez LA Shelter over the weekend

Dec. 20, 2010

The women's track and field team adopted a homeless family from the Cesar Chavez Los Angeles Shelter for Christmas and delivered presents over the weekend.

The ladies all donated money towards Christmas presents, while Joy Eaton made two blankets for the little girls, ages 3 and 5. Joy, along with Tiffany LaMar, Briana Barlow and men's athlete Cory Primm, delivered the gifts and attended a party on Saturday, December 18th.

The student-athletes played games with the children, sang carols and took care of the young babies so the moms could have a break. They also helped with handing out the gifts.

One little boy who was deaf went up to tell Santa what he wanted and Eaton translated what he was saying in sign language, causing several of the adults to be in tears.

The event was put on by "A Chance For Children," run by Tai Collins and Gregg Bonann (creator of Baywatch).
