The Redwood boy's team, which was composed of senior Peter Kissin 4th in 16:13, junior Reed Bunnell 7th in 16:34, senior Julio Boj 11th in 16:43, senior Alex Sterling 15th in 17:04, senior Alex Shimek 17th in 17:15, junior Eric Tymstra 18th in 17:24, and junior Clay Alm 19th in 17:30, won with 54 points.

Peter Kissin is the son of Roy Kissin (San Ramon Valley, Danville), who placed third in the 1975 California State Meet two mile in 8:56.2 in San Diego. Roy Kissin is #8 on the NCS All-Time 3,200 Meters List. Rod Berry (Redwood, Larkspur), who placed second in the 1977 State Meet two mile in 8:53.4, is #2 all-time at 8:50.4+.

San Rafael placed second with 65. Tamalpais (Mill Valley) was third with 79.

Junior Erik Olson (Novato), the defending champion, won in 15:20. Senior Steven Iglehart (The Branson School, Ross), where tuition is $31,315 for the 2008-09 school year, placed second in 15:34. Sophomore Dan Milechman (Tamalpais) was third in 15:41.

Redwood also won the girl's team championship with 52 points. Their team was composed of junior Caitlin Schmitt 11th in 19:48, junior Sarah Salem 10th in 20:49, junior Amelia Burke 11th in 21:07, freshman Natalie Tallerico 18th in 21:34, sophomore Shealyn Mathews 19th in 21:50, and junior Caroline Logan 11th in 22:26.

Redwood coach Laura (Starett) Schmitt, the mother of Caitlin, is going to be very busy this weekend. Her daughter Meaghan, who goes to Cal, is going to play Stanford in volleyball on Friday in Berkeley. Her son Jake, who goes to Washington, is going to run in the NCAA Division I West Regional Cross Country Championship at Stanford on Saturday.

Sir Francis Drake of San Anselmo placed second with 59 points. Terra Linda of San Rafael was third with 92 points.

Junior Theresa Devine (Marin Catholic, Kentfield), third last year, won in 18:48. Freshman Ellie Ryan (Sir Francis Drake) placed second in 19:02. Sophomore Courtney Madson (Novato), fifth last year, was third in 19:24.
