Cross Country Women Take First At Fordham Fiasco

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The women's cross country team won the Fordham Fiasco at Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday as three runners finished in the top five.

The Quakers beat 24 other teams in their first race of the season, as four of Penn's top five finishers placed in the top ten.

Freshman Leslie Kovach was the top finisher for the Red and Blue. She took third with a time of 18:26. The freshman was followed by senior Anna Aagenes (18:28) in fourth and fellow classmate Laura Bilder (Corona del Mar) (18:32) in fifth.

Sophomore Laura Steel (18:37) took seventh for the Quakers while senior Kelly Hand (18:51) rounded out the scoring with an 11th place finish.

Penn returns to action next Saturday, September 19, when they race in the Iona Meet of Champions.
