Ajee' Wilson shatters 800m American record at Monaco Diamond League

MONACO -- Rio 2016 Olympian and World Indoor silver medalist Ajee’ Wilson broke the American record in the women’s 800 meters Friday, shattering the previous record by nearly a second with a 1:55.61 at the Herculis Diamond League Meeting in Monte Carlo.
Wilson (Neptune Township, New Jersey) finished third in a two-lap race that saw four national records and seven personal bests, with seven women going sub-2:00. The previous American record was set by three-time Olympic medalist and nine-time World medalist Jearl Miles Clark, who ran 1:56.40 in 1999.
Next up for Wilson is the IAAF World Championships in London, August 4-13. Team USATF will be announced on Saturday, July 22.
