Ben Tucker (Polytechnic, San Francisco Section) won the 1960 State Meet mile in 4:14.3. He went to San Jose State.
Mike Thornton (Torrance, Southern Section) placed second in 4:15.5. He went to El Camino College. El Camino College is a two-year public community college located in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County known as Alondra Park.
Harry McCalla (Berkeley, North Coast Section) was third in 4:15.6. He went on to Stanford University.
Today I attended a meeting at the former campus of Presentation High School at 2214 Jefferson Street in Berkeley. There were many members of Ben's family and his teammates at San Jose State in the 1960's. I sat next to Walt Van Zant (St. Ignatius High School, San Francisco)
