CAC Track & Field rolls at Paradise Valley

Outstanding performances from this past weekend.

Leading the men this weekend was Gilbert Kigen with the number 5 ranked performance in the NJCAA in the 1000m timed at 2:29.  He also ran the number 4 ranked Mile with a fast time of 4:14.  Brain Masayesva clocked a 4:23 MIle (17th in NJCAA) and Jorge Amaya came in with a 4:27 as well.  Hezekiel Romeo moved up in the shot put standings this week with a throw of 57 feet 11.25 inches.  He is currently ranked 3rd in the country.

Leading the Women's team this weekend was Sophomore Marleena Eubanks. She took substantial time off her Mile as she ran the 3rd fastest time in the NJCAA this weekend with a 5:02 Mile.  She is currently ranked second in the 800m and 1000m races as well. The women's team ran the 4x400 Relay for the first time this year clocking a 3:49 which is good enough for 8th in the NJCAA.  Marleena was joined by Camira Haughton, Kilee Hagerstrand, and Pedra Hicks and they ran mostly uncontested. 
Magaly Tshipopo had a nice long jump going 18 feet 8.5 inches and is ranked 12 in the country with that mark. Jess St.John had a lifetime personal best with a throw of 51 feet 7 inches in the shot (Ranks her 3rd in NJCAA) and her teammate Portious Warren  (Pictured) broke her own week old National Junior College record  in the shot throwing 53 feet 8 inches.

This coming week CA will have a home meet on Saturday starting at 10:00 am.
