FORT WORTH, Texas - Former Flyin' Frog Khadevis Robinson was inducted into the TCU Letterman's Association Hall of Fame Thursday night at the Brown-Lupton University Union. Robinson was honored alongside Marshall E. Harris, J.J. Henry, Dennis Nutt, Michael Reeder and Rene Simpson to make up the 41st Class.
Robinson, who is considered one of the greatest 800-meter runners in track and field history, collected runner-up honors in the event with a time of 1:45.97 seconds at the 2009 USA Outdoor Championships, qualifying him for his sixth Team USA World Outdoor Championships squad. Last summer, Robinson was part of one of the most memorable moments of the 2008 USA Olympic Trials, when he and Christian Smith dove at the finish of the 800-meter finals, vying for the third Olympic Team spot. Robinson crossed the finish line in fourth-place. Earlier this season, Robinson captured his fourth USA Indoor Championship with a time of 1:48.61 seconds.
At TCU, Robinson won the 1998 NCAA Outdoor 800 meters to close his collegiate career. He still owns the Flyin' Frogs 800 meters record, clocking a time of 1:46.04 in 1998.
Robinson, who earned a degree in social work at TCU, won the 1999 USA Indoor Championships and was a finalist at the World Championships, both indoors and outdoors. In July of 2002, Robinson recorded the fourth fastest time in the world in the 800 meters in Finland, shattering his personal record with a time of 1:44.41 seconds. He continues to perform on the professional circuit and is one of the nation's top 800-meter runners, earning a trip to Athens, Greece for the 2004 Summer Olympics.
In August of 2006, Robinson helped shatter the American and world record in the 4x800 meters at the Memorial Van Damme meet with a time of 7:02.82. Despite shattering the previous world mark, the U.S. squad finished second to Kenya's time of 7:02.43.
Robinson concluded 2006 ranked No. 1 in the United States and No. 7 in the world in the 800 meters.

NEW ORLEANS - Eric Peterson was named Director of the Tulane men's and women's cross-country and track and field programs, Director of Athletics Rick Dickson announced on Wednesday. Peterson, a former distance runner at the University of Oregon, spent the previous 16 seasons at UCLA and will take over the Green Wave programs immediately.
"I'm elated to announce the addition of Eric Peterson to lead our men's and women's cross country and track and field programs," Dickson said. "Eric has a great knowledge of each sport, and the multitude of events in track & field. He had an impressive tenure in his 16 years at UCLA and has coached and developed elite athletes; as he was himself at the University of Oregon."
"It has been a career goal of mine to lead a program," Peterson said. "Rick Dickson has provided me with an incredible opportunity to direct Tulane's track and cross country program and I'm really looking forward to this new chapter in my career and in my life to begin."
"Tulane University has one of the finest academic reputations in the United States. I believe that competition brings out the best in people," Peterson added. "Pursuing a degree from Tulane University and being challenged by the level of competition in Conference USA is a great environment for student-athletes to achieve greatness. I am committed to do all I can to help our program first grow to a Conference USA Championship level then make some noise at the national level."
In the last nine seasons, Peterson served as the head coach for UCLA men's cross country and coach of the track & field distance squads for the Bruins' men's and women's track teams. He served as the women's cross country head coach for the last 15 seasons, taking over after just one year as an assistant with the program.
Under Peterson, the distance running program at UCLA was a Pacific 10 Conference and national power. His men's team advanced to the NCAA championship as an at large in 2006 after the program's highest Pac 10 finish in a decade. The Bruins were back in the NCAA championship team competition in 2008 placing 26th in the nation, while three of his student-athletes from the men's team qualified for the NCAA as individuals in 2007.
In track and field, UCLA's men's teams sent three individuals from the distance program to the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships and four in the NCAA Indoor Championship with 10 student-athletes participating in the NCAA Regional meet. Peterson had six steeplechasers qualify for regionals, which was tied for No. 1 in the country for single event qualifiers. He also coached freshman Dylan Knight to a UCLA freshman class record in the steeplechase and a 10th-place finish at the World Junior Championships. In 2008, he coached athletes to four UCLA all-time top-10 marks and a UCLA record in the indoor 3000m for Austin Ramos.
Peterson contributed to three women's track National Championship squads, aiding the Bruins to the 2004 outdoor championship, and indoor championships in 2000 and 2001.

Before his arrival at UCLA, Peterson was the graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Oregon for the 1992-93 season. He also spent two seasons as an assistant track and field and cross country coach at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego.
Peterson has trained and coached with some of the top distance coaches in the world, including Mike Manley (1972 U.S. Olympian in the steeplechase), former Oregon head coach Bill Dellinger (three-time Olympian in the 5000m), Luiz de' Olivera, who tutored Joaquim Cruz to the 1984 Olympic 800m gold medal and Larsen, who coached the U.S. men's distance corps at the 2004 Olympic Games.
As a distance runner at Oregon, Peterson was a member of 1989 Pac-10 Championship cross country team that was the NCAA Runner Up. An All-American in 1988, he was a two-time Olympic Trials qualifier in the 1500m (1988, 1992), running a personal best 1:49.78 in the 800m and 3:41.03 in the 1500m.
Peterson was the 1985 Oregon State high school 800m champion and earned All-America honors in the 1500m and mile at North Eugene High School in his native Eugene, Oregon.
"Over the past 16 years at UCLA I have worked with and learned from who I would consider to be some of the best coaches in our sport," he said. "I am as eager and enthusiastic to manage a staff and lead our program as I am to build a competitive team here at Tulane."
The Tulane cross country teams are off this weekend following back-to-back meets to open the 2009 campaign. The Green Wave women placed second on Saturday at the Mook 4 Invitational in Ruston, La., with the men's squad finishing sixth.

Peterson has trained and coached with some of the top distance coaches in the world, including Mike Manley (1972 U.S. Olympian in the steeplechase), former Oregon head coach Bill Dellinger (three-time Olympian in the 5000m), Luiz de' Olivera, who tutored Joaquim Cruz to the 1984 Olympic 800m gold medal and Larsen, who coached the U.S. men's distance corps at the 2004 Olympic Games.
As a distance runner at Oregon, Peterson was a member of 1989 Pac-10 Championship cross country team that was the NCAA Runner Up. An All-American in 1988, he was a two-time Olympic Trials qualifier in the 1500m (1988, 1992), running a personal best 1:49.78 in the 800m and 3:41.03 in the 1500m.
Peterson was the 1985 Oregon State high school 800m champion and earned All-America honors in the 1500m and mile at North Eugene High School in his native Eugene, Oregon.
"Over the past 16 years at UCLA I have worked with and learned from who I would consider to be some of the best coaches in our sport," he said. "I am as eager and enthusiastic to manage a staff and lead our program as I am to build a competitive team here at Tulane."
The Tulane cross country teams are off this weekend following back-to-back meets to open the 2009 campaign. The Green Wave women placed second on Saturday at the Mook 4 Invitational in Ruston, La., with the men's squad finishing sixth.

ON THE COURSE: The firing of the first starting pistol is just a matter of days away now for the Washington men's and women's cross country teams. The 2009 season opens this Saturday as the Huskies host their only home meet of the season, the annual Sundodger Invitational, at West Seattle's Lincoln Park. The top-ranked Husky women will be setting off on their first ever national title defense, while the No. 24 men's team is seeking its third NCAA trip in the past four years.
Hundreds of athletes will be running the trails at Lincoln Park with eight races taking place. The day's first race will be the women's 6,000-meter open race, set for 9 a.m., and featuring many local college and club teams. The open men's 8,000-meter race is scheduled for 9:40 a.m. Following that will be the first race for the Huskies, the 6,000-meter women's invitational at 10:25. The UW men will then compete in the 8,000-meter invitational at 11 a.m.
For the first time the Sundodger will include a high school invitational meet as well, with top area high schools such as Bellarmine Prep, Seattle Prep, Eastlake, Juanita, Mt. Rainier and others running in 5,000-meter varsity and junior varsity races beginning at 12 p.m.
Challenging the Huskies on Saturday will be a collection of local universities including Oregon State, Seattle Pacific, Seattle U., Idaho, Portland State, Western Washington, and Alaska Anchorage.
"This will give us a glimpse of where our team is right now," said head coach Greg Metcalf, beginning his 13th season. "We want to go out and give a solid effort and nothing more than that. It's fun to run in front of the home folks and you get a chance to sit down as a coach and see what we did last year and what we did this year to compare where we are. It's the first time in a while that the athletes gets to go through the routines, the stresses, getting up and putting the uniform on, and it's nice to do that at home."
The Husky women, ranked a unanimous No. 1 in the USTFCCCA preseason poll released this week, will send a trio of women to the starting line that competed at the 2008 NCAA Championships when the Dawgs won the program's first national title. 2008 Pac-10 Champion and defending Sundodger Champion Kendra Schaaf is expected to compete, as is All-American junior Mel Lawrence, second at this meet a year ago, plus junior Lauren Saylor, an All-Pac-10 Second Teamer last year.
Most of the returning men are expected to run, though as always lineups can change during the week. The Huskies have a number of seniors eager to make the most of their final season. Senior Jake Schmitt, UW's top finisher at NCAA's last year and an All-American on the indoor track at 5,000-meters, should get the start as will senior Kelly Spady, an All-West Region performer last year. Redshirt freshman Joey Bywater will compete in his first official cross country race after an excellent first track season in the spring, and sophomore Max O'Donoghue-McDonald should get on the course after redshirting in 2008.
