DMR Results Highlight MPSF Indoors Day One
Women's Win, Men's Second Place Finish Pair Of Notable Efforts
SEATTLE --- The California track & field teams began competition at this year’s Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Indoor Championships Friday at the Dempsey Indoor Facility at the University of Washington.
The standout performances of the event’s first day for the Golden Bears came courtesy of the Distance Medley Relay teams.
The women’s team of Sydney Gray, Jackie Chandler, Rebecca Croft, and Bethan Knights won the DMR with a time of 11:10.61, besting Stanford (11.12.41) and BYU (11.16.87) in the process. On the men’s side, Josh Lewis, Alexander McElwee, Eugene Hamilton III, and Thomas Joyce finished behind Oregon for second place in the event (9:32.22).
The top final to watch tomorrow after today’s prelims will be the 60 Meter Hurdles. Sophomore Ashtyn Davis finished first in heat four of the event (7.89) to post the third best qualifying time for Saturday’s final.
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
- The 3rd place position in the Men’s 200 Meter Dash went to Khalfani Muhammad and his time of 21.44.
- Isabella Marten finished 4th in the Long Jump with a leap of 19-7.00 (5.97m)
- Isaac Dan ended the men’s Weight Throw in 4th place with a throw of 63-0.25 (19.21m) while Aaron Russell came in 5th (60-3.75 / 18.38m) and Peter Simon finished 10th (57-10.5 / 17.64m)
- Karsten Wethington finished 7th in the men’s Long Jump with a result of 23-5.25 (7.12m)
- Destiny Parker’s Weight Throw toss of 58-0.25 (17.68m) gave her a 9th place mark in the event
- Mariel Mendoza placed 10th in the 5000 Meter Run with a time of 16:49.69
- Tyler Brendel ended the day in 13th place in the Heptathlon, with his best performance coming in the 60 Meter Dash (7.03; 4th place).
