Top Swedish national track and field athletes set to train at IMG Academy



BRADENTON, Fla. (December 23, 2014) - Top Swedish national track and field athletes are ringing in the New Year and preparing for competition at IMG Academy in January. Swedish national coaches Yannick Tregaro and Oscar Gidewall will train eight of Sweden’s top athletes through January 11.



Athletes include:



Susanna Kallur: Kallur is the world indoor record holder in the 60m hurdles and gold medalist in the 100m hurdles at 2006 European Athletics Championships.



Emma Green Tregaro: Tregaro is the wife of Yannick Tregaro, and the 2005 IAAF World Championship bronze medalist in the high jump. Tregaro also won silver at the 2010 European Championships with a personal best 2.01m jump.



Michel Tornéus: Tornéus is a long jumper who represented Sweden in the 2012 London Olympics and finished fourth.



Mehdi Alkahtib: Alkahtib is a national high jumper who took gold in the 2009 Swedish Championships.



Alhaji Jeng: Jeng is a pole-vaulter who won the silver medal at the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships.



Other Swedish national athletes training at IMG Academy include triple jumpers Mathias Ström and Daniel Lennartsson, and high jumper Emil Svensson.



IMG Academy is the training home for numerous professional track and field athletes, including the 2008 400m Olympic gold medalist and 2013 IAAF World Champion in the 400m, LaShawn Merritt. Merritt was recently awarded the prestigious 2013 Jesse Owens Athlete of the Year award. He is joined at IMG Academy by numerous other pros, including 2012 4x100m relay Olympic gold medalist, Tianna Bartoletta, who lead off the world record run in London. In addition to its professional trainees, IMG Academy operates a track & field and cross country program for student-athletes, and has emerged as a world-class destination for track and field competitions. In December, the NCAA selected IMG Academy as its host venue for the 2016 and 2017 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships
