Moussa named Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS –Ammar Moussa has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after winning the Young Men’s title at the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in Hoover, Ala.
The 2009 Intermediate Boys champion, Moussa battled defending champion Raymond McCormack (Lanier Running Club) from the first mile all the way to the finish. In the end, Moussa ran away from McCormack for the win in a time of 15:22.The two ran away from the rest of the field and netted a lead of more than 30 seconds over their closest competitor.

Now in its ninth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
