What You Need To Know About The 2015 Bowerman Ceremony

December 17, 2015

SAN ANTONIO — The big day is finally here.
After months of competition and politicking, it’s time to find out who were the most outstanding male and female student-athletes in collegiate track & field during the 2014-15 season.
That’s right, folks: It’s Bowerman Day!
Tonight the red carpet will be rolled out at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa for The Bowerman Arrival Party, then everybody will be ushered inside the Grand Oaks Ballroom to find out the winners.
Here’s what you need to know about the 2015 Bowerman Award Ceremony.

Finalists

Shawn Barber
Shawn Barber, Akron: Dominant doesn’t begin to describe the season Barber put together. Barber cruised to NCAA titles indoors and outdoors in the pole vault.
Edward Cheserek
Edward Cheserek, Oregon: Simply put, Cheserek is the class of collegiate distance running. Cheserek won the NCAA indoor mile and doubled up outdoors in the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters.
Marquis Dendy
Marquis Dendy, Florida: Dendy won not one, not two, not three, but four NCAA titles in 2015. He swept the long jump and triple jump both indoors and outdoors in historic fashion.

Kendra Harrison
Kendra Harrison, Kentucky: Harrison is the only woman in NCAA history to be top-5 on the all-time collegiate performers list in all three hurdle disciplines (60 meters, 100 meters, 400 meters). She won NCAA titles in the 60 meters and 100 meters.
Demi Payne
Demi Payne, Stephen F. Austin: The current indoor collegiate record holder posted 13 wins in 2015. Payne captured the NCAA outdoor title in pole vault and set the meet record in the process.

Jenna Prandini
Jenna Prandini, Oregon: Prandini scored a total of 49 points between the NCAA indoor and outdoor meets. She won two NCAA titles (indoor long jump, 100 meters) and earned three runner-up finishes (indoor 200 meters, outdoor 200 meters, outdoor long jump).
