LEXINGTON, Mass. - For nearly a decade, Saucony has been an industry leader in supporting nationwide efforts to ensure that kids in the U.S. can grow up at a healthy weight. Since 2006, the Foun dation has awarded more than $1 million dollars in grants to schools and community organizations all dedicated to preventing childhood obesity through running and a healthy lifestyle. Encouraged by recent signs of progress in turning childhood obesity rates around, Saucony remains even more committed to putting kids on the path to a healthy future. Saucony today announces that the following organizations have been selected to receive a Saucony Run for Good Foundation grant:

  • Boys and Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley, Salisbury, MA

CANTON, Ohio - BellStores has partne red with the Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon as the Presenting Sponsor in a multi-year agreement beginning with the 2015 marathon, half marathon, and team relay scheduled for Sunday April 26th, 2015.  
 
BellStores is partnered with Ohio-based Marathon Petroleum and is committed to offering the highest quality fuels, coffee, fountain drinks, snacks, and on-the-go meal options.  As the presenting sponsor,  BellStores logos will be placed on all race weekend materials, including race bibs, the race guide, radio advertising and more. Its branded vehicle, the "BellBug," will also be the lead race vehicle.
 
"BellStores provides a service to the Canton-area community throughout the year," said Jim Chaney, race director. "At the Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon, this continues to be a key focus for us as well. This is a valuable partnership that we're looking to continue long-term."


ST. LOUIS, Mo.   - GO! St. Louis, a local not-for-profit organization that specializes in presenting fitness ev ents and programs year-round announced today plans to celebrate and highlight the organization's 15-Year anniversary at the GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, set for Saturday and Sunday, April 11 & 12, 2015.
 
Recently announced was a brand-new race course for participants in the marathon, half marathon and marathon relay on Sunday, April 12. This exciting new race route showcases the beautiful Mississippi riverfront, from both the Missouri and Illinois sightlines, as participants traverse on the Eads and MLK bridges.  Other significant features include a rescaling of the elevation, which makes for a flatter and faster route, along with a "Race within a Race", a 3.5 mile portion of the course that starts at the entrance to the Eads Bridge and concludes after crossing the MLK Bridge. The new stretch - named " Bridge Challenge 3.5", will record individual times for participants in the marathon and half marathon, while recognizing top age group winners with a special medal and oversized chocolate bar with a bridge design.
In addition to the new course, the popular St. Louis-themed finish line food will return to reward participants after they cross the finish line.
 

MINNEAPOLIS -- Twin Cities In Motion, the nonprofit organizer of the region's premier running events, in cluding the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, announced that it is creating a new leadership position of President with the goal of expanding the organization's scope. 
 
This newly created position will be a full-time, paid executive position, responsible for leading the strategy and growth of the organization. Currently, this role is filled by a volunteer Board member who also serves as Board Chair and CEO. With this change, the volunteer Board Chair will continue to lead the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will launch a search to fill the President position and expects to have the position filled in the next three to six months.
 
"Through prudent management of the organization's resources, Twin Cities In Motion is in the position of being able to invest in its growth," said Charlie Fazio, Chair of the Board
of Directors. "This change will allow the organization to expand in new ways, furthering its reach and its ability to fulfill its mission of promoting healthy lifestyles through running events and community outreach."

WICHITA, Kan. - Running USA, the national non-profit trade organization for running events and businesses, announced  the release of the   2015 National Runner Survey.

 



A biennial report, the National Runner Survey assesses the demographics, lifestyles, attitudes, habits, trends and product preferences of the running population nationwide. Results from the National Runner Survey reflect "core runners," that is, active adult participants who tend to enter running events and train year-round.
