Hudson’s dominating win was one of many standout performances during the third day of the championships.

In a tighter competition, Alauna Ray out leaped Dasjah Mason to win the women’s 17-18 high jump. Two inches decided the competition, as Ray posted a mark of 1.65m/5-05 and Mason’s best jump measured 1.60m/5-03.

Nia Lyles established a solid mark on her first throw of the 11-12 girls’ discus and won by a comfortable margin. Lyles hurled the discus 29.38m/96-05, more than six feet beyond the nearest competitor.

The 11-12 boys’ javelin competition came down to the final throw. Marcus Hochhalter’s javelin sailed 37.48m/122-11 on his final attempt to take over the lead from Jett Kinder. Hochhalter’s best attempt was eight inches past Kinder’s best mark.
