BOSTON - It's not just that sophomore Abbey D'Agostino (Topsfield, Mass.) breaks Dartmouth records seemingly with regularity that makes her such an impressive part of the women's track & field team. It's that she breaks the old mark by a wide margin nearly every time.

Friday night at Boston University's Valentine's Invitational, D'Agostino took down the Dartmouth record in the 3,000 meters by more than12 seconds. Her second-place showing in the event came in 9:02.15 and eclipsed the previous program mark of 9:14.75 set by current senior Alexi Pappas (Alameda, Calif.) last season.

The sophomore distance runner has already broken the school record for the mile this season, doing so on this very course two weeks ago at the Terrier Classic as she ran a 4:37.41. She had already broken the previous mile mark the week before at Leverone, but managed to surpass her own time just six days later.

Friday also saw Pappas post an impressive finish in the 3,000 as she crossed just off her previous record in 9:15.18 to claim fourth.

Not to be outdone by the record-breaking performance of D'Agostino, senior Christina Supino (Windham, N.H.) also set a new Dartmouth mark in the 800 meters.

In a field of more than 110 runners, Supino's 2:06.94 was good for sixth place, but also bested the previous Dartmouth record of 2:07.86 set by five-time All-American Kristen Manwaring '96. Supino had run a 2:08.05 in this event earlier in her career to rank second all-time, but now owns two of the top three marks in the event at Dartmouth.

Marina Plesons (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Berkeley Hall (Pembroke, Mass.) each claimed second place in their respective events for the Big Green at BU's Track and Tennis Center Friday.

Plesons was second in the pole vault, clearing 11-5.75/3.50m on her first try. However, she was unable to clear the seventh height of the afternoon.

Hall took second in the triple jump by almost six inches over the third-place finisher from UMass-Lowell. Hall's first jump of the day proved to be the one that would stand up as she was measured at 35-2.00/10.72m.

The Pembroke, Mass., native and sophomore jumper also claimed fourth in the long jump. Hall's third attempt in the event was measured at 17-6.75/5.35m.

The Big Green also saw a 16th-place showing from its 4x400-meter relay team, an 11th-place finish from Janae Dunchack (Northern Cambria, Pa.) in the high jump and Elizabeth Short (North Reading, Mass.) and Bridget End (Summit, N.J.) taking 11th and 13th, respectively, in the 5,000 meters.

The Valentine Invitational is a non-scoring meet.

Saturday will mark the men's turn on the BU track and infield as their meet will at 10:45 a.m.
