Chelsea Johnson enters her first season on the coaching staff as an undergraduate assistant after having competed for the Bruins from 2003 to 2006. Johnson is working towards completion of her Bachelors Degree in Sociology, and will help coach the pole vaulters, while training for the next World Championships and Olympic games.


2006 - NCAA runner-up in the pole vault at the Outdoor Championships (13-11.25) ... West Region Champion (13-11.75) ... Set a new NCAA and Pac-10 record with a vault of 15-1 at the Pac-10 Championships to win her second conference title ... In indoor track, won the NCAA vault title with a mark of 14-9.

2005 - Entered the NCAA Outdoor meet as the No. 1 seed (14-1.25) ... At West Region, placed sixth (12-11.75) and received an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships ... Won the pole vault at the Pac-10 Championships (13-11.25) ... Against USC, jumped a winning season-best, meet and stadium record, and collegiate leading mark of 14-1.25 ... Won the UCSD Invite (13-7) ... In indoor track, suffered an hamstring injury that kept her out of competition.

Summer 2004 - Finished fourth at the U.S. Olympic Trials (14-9), just missing a spot on the Olympic Team.

2004 - NCAA Outdoor Champion in the pole vault with a mark of 13-9.75 ... Johnson broke the NCAA Outdoor Record at the Stanford Invitational, jumping 15-0 ... Won the pole vault at the West Regionals (13-9.75) placed second at Pac-10 (14-2) ... Finished second at the NCAA Indoor (13-11.25), earning All-American honors.

2003 - Impressive performance at the USA Meet, placing ninth (13-11.25, No. 2 in school history, freshman school record) ...A qualifier to the NCAA Outdoor final, Johnson placed sixth (13-6.25) at the West Region and second (13-3.25) at the Pac-10 ... Cal/NV champion (13-4.50) ... At the NCAA Indoor, Johnson placed 11th (13-3.50i).

High School - 2002 was Johnson's first year competing in the pole vault ... Placed first at the Mt. SAC Relays, setting a meet record of 13-4, the second highest HS mark ever, and also placed sixth in the 100mH (15.05) ... Won the Arcadia Invite (12-6) ... Won the CIF Div. III title with a prep personal best vault of 13-6 and was second in the 100m hurdles in a personal best 14.68 ... Her 13-6 was the national leader for 2002 and was just 2" off of the U.S. HS record ... Vaulted 13-3 to win the CIF Southern Section Masters meet ... Won the CA State title with a vault of 13-3 ... Equalled her high school PR, winning the Golden West Invitational (13-6) ... Placed fifth at the U.S. Junior National Championships (12-1.50) ... Named to the LA Times' Southland track and field first team and finished as the 2002 national pole vault leader ... Prior to competing in the pole vault, won the CIF Div. III 300m hurdle title as a junior ... At the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet, placed fourth in the 300m hurdles (43.70) and was fifth in the 100m hurdles (14.59) ... Prep best of 13-6 (PV).
