Junior (2005-06): Earned All-America honors with his 13th-place finish in the 5000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships...ran Cal's best times in the outdoor 10,000 meters (29.44.11, Stanford Invitational, 3/31), outdoor 5000 meters (13:50.84, Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational, 4/30) and indoor 3000 meters (7:58.46, Husky Classic, 2/11)...those times moved him up the Cal all-time rankings; now he's third in the 3000 meters, fifth in the 5000 meters and fifth in the 10000meters...held Cal's second-fastest time in the 1500 meters (3:49.13, Big Meet, 4/22).

Sophomore (2004-05): Ghebray had a successful season, posting three of Cal's best marks in the mile (4:07.72/Brutus Hamilton), 3000 meters (8:02.11/MPSF Championship), and 5000 meters (14:04.00/Stanford Invitational)... his sophomore times in the 3000 and the 5000 meters moved him up to second and seventh all-time, respectively, in the Cal record books.

Freshman (2003-04): Posted Cal's fastest mile time (4:07.77/MPSF Indoor Championships) and Cal's best 3000-meter time (8:07.27 indoors)...redshirted 2002-03.

Cross Country: In 2005, his final season, Ghebray had a season-best time of 24:27 at the Stanford Invitational, in which he finished 19th...Cal's top performer at both the Aggie Open and Chile Pepper Festival...the Bears' top finisher at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships, in which he placed eigth with a time of 24:30...Cal's top performer at the 2005 NCAA West Regional, in which he finished 15th (30:38.2)...the Bears' only athlete at the 2005 NCAA Championships, Ghebray finished 63rd with a time of 30:39.5...clocked the second-fastest time on the team at the 2004 NCAA West Regional (52nd, 31:50)...posted four top 15 showings in 2003...improved 15 places at the 2003 Pac-10 Championships (39th, 26:14.80) from his freshman year and was the Bears' second fastest at the event...Cal's third-fastest performer at the 2003 NCAA West Regional (55th, 31:04)...earned the team's Most Inspirational award as a freshman...one of Cal's top five finishers at the 2002 Pac-10 meet (54th, 25:44).

High School: A 2002 graduate of James Logan High school...NCS champion in cross country as a junior and was the NCS runner-up in track and field his sophomore through senior seasons...at the state meet, finished fourth in the 3200 meters as a sophomore and fourth in the 1600 meters as a senior...ran PRs of 4:12.69 (1600 meters) and 9:02.20 (3200 meters)...school-record holder in the 1600 meters, 3200 meters and distance medley relay...named to the honor roll.

Personal: Born Feb. 5, 1984, in Oakland, Calif....father is Berhane Mehari and mother is Genet Walemariam...has five siblings...brother Bisirat was a 2000 Cal grad and brother Yosef is also on the Cal track and field team...family comes from Eritrea...history major.
