Wietecha, Horst Win Rainy 14th St. Jude Country Music Marathon

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The rainy downpour soaked participants at the 14th St. Jude Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon presented by Nissan on Saturday, April 27, but spirits were still high as they crossed the finish line.

Scott Wietecha from Hendersonville, Tenn., won the men's marathon in 2 hours, 22 minutes, 41 seconds, while Jill Horst from Rome, GA, landed first place woman in 2:57:52-both champions were slated to run in the 2013 Boston Marathon but were unable due to overtraining and an illness, respectively. Nashville residents Daniel Lepage (1:10:39) and Gisela Olalde (1:19:58) captured the 12th edition half-marathon.

"This was fun, the crowds were great-I love Nashville," said Lepage. "The rain slows you down a bit, but keeps you nice and cool. I was running with a friend for a while, but he continued onto the marathon."

Roach, Olaru Repeat Big Sur International Marathon Victories

CARMEL, Calif. - (April 28, 2013) - It was a back-to-back double at the 28th Big Sur International Marathon as 2012 champions Adam Roach (Pacific Grove, CA) and Nuta Olaru (Longmont, CO) defended their titles on Sunday, April 28, along the scenic California coastline.

Roach, 29, who trailed in third place until mile 24, kept grinding away until he captured the lead from eventual third place finisher Josh Whitehead of Alabama. His overall finish time was 2 hours, 27 minutes, 46 seconds.

"I had a lot to make up in the second half of the course, but I knew I could do it," said Roach. "Every time we got a straightaway where I had a view I could see that I still had a shot."
