86th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays slated for March 27-30


The 2013 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by State Farm will begin Wednesday, March 27 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

The 2013 86th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, presented by State Farm, is set to take place March 27-30 at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The annual meet is once again expected to draw strong representation from across the state of Texas, the nation and the world among the high school, collegiate and professional ranks. The 2012 edition featured competitors from 625 high schools and more than 200 colleges and universities totaling more than 6,500 entries from 31 states and six countries. This marked a sizable increase from the 4,948 total entries in 2011.
The 2013 Relays will incorporate several schedule adjustments that will even further improve the competing as well as the viewing experience. Thursday evening, March 28, will highlight several of the distance disciplines, including the 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters University/College races and the 3,000- and 2,000-meter steeplechase events across both the High School and University/College divisions.

The Friday evening session on March 29 will showcase University/College events for both men and women across the field disciplines, including pole vault, shot put and long jump. Friday night will also feature the sprint medley and distance medley relays, in addition to several premier High School events, including the 1,600 meters and 4x400-meter relay.

Saturday morning will kick off with the High School 3,200-meter races, which after being moved to that time spot at the Relays have produces some of the top times in the country over the last two years. The Saturday portion of the High School 4x100-meter relay events will lead into an exciting, action-packed day.

A fan fest will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST in the throws area of the stadium and opening ceremonies will take place at 1 p.m. In addition, Texas icons Bevo and Smokey the Cannon will attend the Relays for the first time on the infield and be present for some of the best sprint and field event performances in the country and the world on Saturday afternoon.

The Relays are scheduled to conclude shortly after 5 p.m., giving Longhorn fans plenty of time to head across the street to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for the annual spring football game which kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets/Television Coverage
Tickets can be obtained at the Mike A. Myers Stadium Box office during the event or can be purchased in advance at TexasBoxOffice.com or by calling the UT Athletics Ticket Office at (800) 982-2386 or (512) 471-3333. Fans can attend the event free of charge on Wednesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 28 with $15 reserved seating and $10 general admission tickets available for Friday and Saturday. All-session passes can also be purchased for $30 (reserved seats) and $20 (general admission).

For the second year in a row, Longhorn Network will provide extensive coverage. This year, 18 hours of coverage will be available during the four days of the Relays.
