DIII National Cross Country Coaches’ Poll – Week 1



September 12, 2012



NEW ORLEANS – The men’s team North Central College and the women’s team at Middlebury College remain as the No. 1 squads in the nation according to first regular poll of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for NCAA Division III cross country. NCC and Haverford hold down the top two men’s spots while Washington (Mo.) moved up from fourth to over the No. 3 position. On the women’s side, Williams is at No. 2 as they were in the preseason poll and the women of Washington (Mo.) also moved from fourth to third in their poll.



Six NESCAC men’s teams – No. 5 Bates, No. 7 Tufts, No. 10 Middlebury, No. 14 Williams, No. 23 Bowdoin, and No. 26 Amherst – are in the national top 35 to lead all conferences. The UAA has the most women’s teams in the top 35 with No. 3 Washington (Mo.), No. 15 Case Western Reserve, No. 19 NYU, No. 21 Chicago, No. 24 Emory.
