Team USA's men ready to roll in Doha

DOHA, Qatar - 2008 World Indoor champion Christian Cantwell looks to set history as he leads Team USA's men into competition at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships, March 12-14, in the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar.

Reigning World Indoor and Outdoor champion Christian Cantwell has made no secret of the fact that his mission is to become the first man ever to win three World Indoor titles in the men's shot put. And setting a world record wouldn't hurt either. Cantwell has gold medals from 2004 and 2008 and is itching to add a third to his collection. Joining Cantwell in the ring will be 2008 NCAA Outdoor shot put & hammer champion Cory Martin.

Reigning USA Indoor and Outdoor champion Mike Rodgers is a threat to win the gold medal in the men's 60 meters. Teammate Trell Kimmons will also be in the mix. Their main competition comes in the form of Great Britain's Dwain Chambers, the co-silver medalist from the 2008 World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain. Rodgers placed fourth in Spain in 2008.

Two-time World Outdoor 400m hurdles medalist Bershawn Jackson leads the field in the men's 400m. The current world leader, Jackson looks to bring Team USA its first gold medal in this event since 2003. Jackson's training partner, 2009 USA Indoor champion Jamaal Torrance, will also be chasing a medal.

2008 World Indoor finalist and two-time USA Indoor champion Nick Symmonds is a contender in the men's 800m. 2006 NACAC U23 champion Duane Solomon [Hometown:
Lompoc, CA; High School: Cabrillo]
is also entered. 2010 USA Indoor runner-up Will Leer and former Stanford standout Garrett Heath will race in the men's 1,500m.

Two-time Olympic and five-time World Outdoor medalist Bernard Lagat will look to recapture gold in the men's 3,000m. The thirty-five year old Lagat won this event six years ago, back in 2004 in Budapest. 2009 USA Outdoor 10,000m champion Galen Rupp will also be in the hunt for a medal. But defending champion Tariku Bekele, of Ethiopia, will not go down without a fight.

Two-time World Indoor champion and current world leader Terrence Trammell is one of the favorites in the men's 60m hurdles. One of his main competitors will be teammate and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist David Oliver. Olympic champion and world outdoor record holder Dayron Robles (CUB) and defending world indoor champion Liu Xiang (CHN) are the other top entrants.

2008 Olympians Jesse Williams (USC) and Dusty Jonas will vie for medals in the men's high jump. Williams currently has the second-highest jump in the world so far this year. 2004 Olympic gold medalist and current USA Indoor champion Tim Mack and 2008 Olympian Derek Miles (Bella Vista, Fair Oaks) will take on reigning Olympic and World Outdoor champion Steve Hooker (AUS) in the men's pole vault.

Watch for 2009 USA Indoor and Outdoor triple jump champion Brandon Roulhac and 2006 World Indoor champion Walter Davis in the men's triple jump. 2009 USA Indoor champion Randall Flimmons and 2010 USA Indoor runner-up Jeff Henderson will compete in the men's long jump.

The men's 4x400m looks to win their third-consecutive gold medal. The relay pool includes Jackson, Torrance, world indoor 400m record holder and two-time World 400m hurdles champion Kerron Clement, 2007 USA Indoor champion Greg Nixon, fomer Baylor 400m runner LeJerald Betters and up-and-comer Tavaris Tate. Team USA has won gold in this event in seven of the last nine editions.

This year's edition of the IAAF World Indoor Championships will be streamed LIVE on Universal Sports and replayed on TV each night at 6 p.m. ET. For more information, go to www.universalsports.com.
