"It was really hot out there and I think they all worked extra hard today," Vacaville head coach Kay Nekota (Woodbridge High School, Irvine; Agoura High School, Agoura Hills; UC Irvine) said to Matt Miller of The Reporter. "I think both teams competed very well. Congratulations to the Wood boys, they are having a big, big year."

"I think everybody looked good," Wood head coach Mary Woo (San Jose Cindergals) said to Miller. "It wasn't super speedy, but a solid running."

"I felt pretty strong," Tyler Sickler (Wood) said to Miller. "I tried to take it easy at the start and keep a relaxed pace."

"It was a lot hotter than it has been," Breanna Sewell (Vacaville) said to Miller. "Sometimes it's harder to come back to the heat after it's been cool. I knew it was an important race and I wanted to help the team as much as I could."
