Head men's track and field coach Mike Maynard has announced the signing of three additional student-athletes to National Letters-Of-Intent. Joining an already solid recruiting class are throwers Derek Eager and Thomas Hart, and sprinter Devalle Pedrogo.

"We are excited to add these newly signed athletes to an already top level recruiting class," said Maynard.

Derek Eager (Tahoma HS, WA) is the No. 2 ranked javelin thrower in the U.S. among high school athletes. His javelin PR of 229-5 would currently rank him among the top 15 in the NCAA. Eager's secondary event is the discus, where his PR is 187-6. He will compete in both events for the Bruins. His discus potential is virtually untapped, and he looks to have the physical stature (6-5/235 lbs.) to throw the college discus well.

Thomas Hart (St Augustine, CA) has PR's of 187-6 (No. 4 in California) in the discus and 54-0 in the shot put. He has had limited experience with the college discus, but has already thrown the implement (2kg) a distance of 159-6 in competition. Hart is 6-3/225 lbs and will add depth to an already strong throwing group.

Devalle Pedrogo (Mission Viejo) was third in the high hurdles at the Southern Section meet last year and fifth in the USATF Junior Olympic intermdiate hurdles. He was one of the nation's top sophomore hurdlers with a top high hurdles time of 13.78. This season he has ran 14.49 (No. 9 in California). He will add depth to the hurdle corps, as he also shows future promise as a 400m intermediate hurdler.

The trio of new signees join an already talented recruiting class for the first year head coach. Signing in February were Mike Woepse (No. 1 pole vaulter in the U.S. with a mark of 17-6), Alec Faldermeyer (No. 2 hammer thrower in the U.S. with a mark of 235-0), Leon Dilihunt (400m runner from Dominguez HS), Ronald Frasier (a sprinter from Jesuit HS), Cole Guerin (a distance runner from Dana Hills), Philip MacQuitty (a distance runner from Palo Alto) and Pablo Rosales (a distance runner from San Pedro).
