A tree stopped the Drake pole vaulter

Bill Taylor, the coach of Sir Francis Drake High School wrote:

Yesterday in Santa Rosa, just down the road from the junior college at the high school track, a tree stopped the Drake pole vaulter, from trying to clear the highest height in county history. Huh? Cody Cunnington has cleared 15 feet 6 inches this season, so the 15 foot 8 inch attempt wasn't a fantasy height. But his legs might have made contact with an oak tree and the officials cancelled any such vault. Cody settled for his second straight Redwood empire win at 14 feet. He will be the favorite to advance to the state finals in the Meet of Champions next weekend in Berkeley.
